After Care
Congratulations on your new brows!
You will receive a specially designed aftercare kit that caters to your unique needs.
It’s important to follow the detailed instructions provided during your appointment closely and thoroughly. This will help you achieve the best possible results and support your healing journey. Thank you for taking the time to care for your new brows!
Immediate Post-Treatment Experience
- Normal Sensations: It is typical to feel a sunburned sensation, followed by dry, itchy, or tender skin. Brows will appear darker initially.
- Flaking and Scabbing: Light flaking/scabs are normal from days 5-14. Do not pick at them; allow them to fall off naturally.
-
Color Changes:
During the healing period, your brows may lighten by 30-50% and shrink in size. This is a natural part of the process! Full healing—both externally and internally—typically takes about 4-6 weeks, and it may take a bit longer for mature skin.
As your skin exfoliates and regenerates, you might notice changes in color. Your brows may appear softer or less visible at times, but don’t worry! This is completely normal. The color will gradually reappear and settle over the following weeks. Be patient, even if it seems like too much color has faded; this is all part of the expected healing journey. True color will emerge in 4-6 weeks, revealing the beautiful results you can look forward to!
Day 1: Immediate Care
- Lymph Fluid: If lymph fluid appears, gently blot it with a clean tissue. Otherwise, leave the area untouched.
Days 2-3: Gentle Patting
- Damp Cotton Round: Gently pat your brows with a damp cotton round once a day. Ensure all excess water is squeezed out before patting. It’s crucial to keep the brows as dry as possible during these first few days.
Days 4-10: Cleaning and Ointment Application
- Washing: Use the soap provided to wash your brows gently. Pat them dry—DO NOT RUB. Let them air dry for about 30-60 seconds.
- Ointment: Apply a rice grain-sized amount of ointment with a clean Q-tip. Avoid over-application, as this can suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should barely be noticeable. If you have oily skin, you may not need to use the ointment.
Important Tips
- Avoid Getting Brows Wet: Outside of these instructions, keep your brows dry. Use a protective brow shield or only wash your hair with a shower-head, blotting your brows dry afterward.
Days 10-14: Continued Care
- Healing Reminder: Your brows are still healing even after 10 days! Review details below for more detailed care instructions for the full 14 days.
General Aftercare Guidelines
Avoid the Following:
- Picking or Scratching: Let scabs or dry skin fall off naturally. Picking can lead to infection, scarring, or color loss.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least two weeks to prevent pigment fading.
- Strenuous Activities: Refrain from exercise, swimming, and saunas
- Makeup: Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 10 days. If flaking is present, avoid makeup until the full 14 days.
- Hot Showers: Avoid long, hot showers for the first 7-14 days. Limit your showers to prevent excessive steam, keeping your face/brows out of the water while washing your body and hair.
Additional Care
- No Facials or Treatments: Avoid facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or micro-needling for 4 weeks.
- Topical Makeup and Sunscreen: Do not use these on the area while healing. Once healed, use only the moisturizer provided and wear SPF on the entire face and brows daily.
- Avoid using Vitamin A Products: Avoid Vitamin A products like Retinol as this can increase cell turnover which can push out the pigment.
Long-Term Care
- Sun Protection: Once your brows are fully healed, it’s essential to continue minimizing sun exposure and applying SPF to them regularly. Protecting your brows from the sun is crucial for maintaining their longevity and ensuring they stay vibrant and true to color. Make sun protection a key part of your daily routine!
-
Avoid Chlorine and Salt Water: Both chlorine and salt water can affect the pigments in your brows. Exposure to these substances may cause the color to fade more quickly or unevenly, compromising the results of your treatment. We understand this is not something you can avoid at all times but please clean and dry the area thoroughly after contact.
- Exfoliating Products: It's important to steer clear of skin lightening and exfoliating products on the treated area. These products can break down the pigment in your brows, leading to faster fading and uneven color.
- Avoid Laser Treatments: Laser treatments on the brow area can directly harm the pigment in your brows, potentially resulting in uneven color or complete loss of the tattoo. Laser around the brows should be avoided for at least 4 weeks. Certain laser procedures stimulate cell turnover, which can accelerate the fading of the pigment. This means your brows may lose their vibrant color more quickly than intended.
Important Note
- Individual Results: Healing outcomes can differ depending on your skin type and how well you follow the aftercare guidelines. To maintain the best color and appearance, we recommend scheduling touch-ups every 1-3 years. This will ensure your brows remain vibrant and beautifully defined!
